Congratulations to Kim Pate, Executive Director at the Canada Association of Elizabeth Fry Societies, on being named to the Order of Canada.
Kim is a tireless advocate for women and women’s issues. Since 1992, Kim has served as the Executive Director of the Canadian Association of Elizabeth Fry Societies, an umbrella body bringing together Elizabeth Fry societies across Canada. The societies provide support and advocacy for women who are currently or who have been in prison, including members of some of the most vulnerable groups in society.
In addition to her tireless work with academics, sociologists and front-line workers on the issues facing women in Canada’s correctional system, Kim has acted as a mentor and guide to many women and law students. She is also a part-time professor at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Common law as well as serving on the WLMP National’s Advisory Board.
