The University of Ottawa Faculty of Law, the Women’s Legal Mentorship Program, the Shirley Greenberg Chair for Women and the Legal Profession, and the Public Law Group organized and co-sponsored two events in celebration of Justice L’Heureux-Dubé’s birthday and to mark the 10th anniversary of her retirement from the Supreme Court of Canada. The two events were:
An evening invitation only reception at the Supreme Court of Canada on September 24, 2012.
A free public lecture on September 25, 2012 at the University of Ottawa with Justice L’Heureux-Dubé in conversation with Professor Constance Backhouse.
WLMP participants were invited to submit a 250 word article with their opinions on a judgment or judgments delivered by Justice L’Heureux-Dubé, or any other topic related to feminism and the law. The authors of the winning entries were invited to the reception at the Supreme Court of Canada on Septembre 24, 2012 for the unique opportunity to meet Justice L’Heueux-Dubé.
